The Making Opts Great Again or MOGA community aims to empower its members with the necessary tools and perspectives for success through these workshops. The concept by Siddharth Salecha, founder of Salecha Lifestyle LLP, had a successful start this May.
The series began with a two-day Mind-set Training Workshop to explore the impact of mind-sets on both the personal and professional levels. Seventeen members from the MOGA community’s Pune chapter came together in mid-May in Lonavala, at the Regenta Hotel.
In the opening session on ‘Customer Service & the Current Market Scenario’, Boman Bharucha discussed evolving consumer expectations, the need for quality products and outstanding service experiences. He highlighted the importance of understanding customer needs through active listening and personalised interactions; technology, such as customerrelationship management (CRM) systems that play a significant role in enhancing services; and strategies for building customer loyalty including consistent communication, prompt issue resolution, and value-added services.
Col. Madan Deshpande led a session on the ‘Spiritual Side of Mind-set’ through the practice of Agnihotra, an ancient Vedic ritual, how it promotes inner peace and harmony. He shared personal anecdotes and scientific studies that suggest benefits like reduced stress and improved concentration.
‘Past & Future of the Optical Industry’ by Dr Rajeev Prasad highlighted historical milestones and potential innovations. He discussed advancements in digital eye strain solutions, smart eyewear and personalised lenses, and encouraged attendees to embrace technological changes. The session underscored the need for continuous learning and adaptability in a dynamic industry.
Siddharth Salecha discussed the ‘Power of Thoughts’ and how they shape reality. He introduced cognitive reframing to transform negative thoughts into positive ones. The workshop also explored the distinction between fixed and growth mind-sets. Interactive discussions and exercises helped participants identify their predominant mind-set and ways to cultivate a growth-oriented mind-set, essential for personal and professional development.
Participants engaged in self-reflection exercises to assess their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours. Gratitude exercises highlighted the benefits of thankfulness, such as improved mental health and stronger relationships. Forgiveness was explored as a tool for emotional healing and personal growth, with techniques for practicing forgiveness shared.
The workshop also emphasised the importance of, and shared strategies for, collaboration and effective communication. Practical exercises, including role-playing scenarios, helped improve verbal and non- verbal communication, essential for building relationships and resolving conflicts.
Logical games and exercises reinforced the workshop’s concepts. They encouraged participants to develop a transformational mind-set through problem-solving tasks that challenged thinking patterns, promoting creativity and collaboration. Participants learned to view challenges as opportunities for growth.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on the root causes of challenges in the optical industry. Participants identified issues such as fragmented market structures and inconsistent quality standards. The importance of a positive, growth-oriented mind-set in driving industry transformation was emphasised, highlighting the need for collective effort and continuous improvement.
MOGA members can look forward to continued education and development initiatives. The next workshop in the series is ‘Managing Finance & Investments’.
