The Problem We Don’t Talk About Enough
Stress, loneliness, overthinking, and emotional pressure have become part of everyday life. Many people wake up already tired — not physically, but mentally. We act strong at work, smile in front of family, and stay “normal” on social media. But inside, there is confusion, sadness, or simply a need to talk.
Most of the time, people don’t want advice or solutions. They don’t want to be judged or fixed. They just want someone to listen for a few minutes. Unfortunately, in real life, that space is hard to find.
Why I Started Thinking About Emotional Support
My name is Himanshu Thakur, and I am the founder of Morbid. Before building Morbid, I was already working in tech and creating products. Still, I was dealing with my own pressures — career stress, responsibilities, and the constant feeling of needing to stay strong.
When I looked around, I noticed the same struggles everywhere. Friends going through breakups. People stuck between family expectations and personal dreams. Late-night overthinking. Many wanted to talk but didn’t know who to talk to. Social media gave distraction, not relief. That gap stayed with me.
I kept thinking: why is there no simple place where someone can talk to a real human being and feel lighter, instantly?
Morbid Started with Questions, Not Answers
Morbid didn’t start with a perfect plan or a big team. It started with confusion, doubts, and many late nights. I questioned everything — will people trust an app with their emotions? Will they really pay per minute just to talk? Will listeners stay genuine and respectful?
Despite the doubts, one belief stayed strong: listening has value. Not everyone needs therapy. Sometimes, people just need a calm voice and a safe space at the right moment.
That belief pushed me to start building Morbid.
Building a Simple Emotional Support App
Morbid was built as a call, chat, and video call app where users can connect with listeners and talk on a per-minute basis. The goal was never to create another social platform. There are already too many noisy apps.
The focus was on three things:
● Privacy – conversations stay personal ● Instant access – no waiting, no long forms ● Human connection – real people, real listening
I wanted Morbid to feel like a safe room in your pocket — a place where you can speak freely without pressure.
The Reality of a Solo Founder Journey
Building Morbid alone was difficult. I handled product development, tech issues, listener onboarding, customer support, payments, and marketing. There were days when features failed and nights when bugs refused to go away.
Some ideas didn’t work. Some decisions were wrong. At times, I questioned whether people truly needed something this simple. But then messages from users would come — “I feel better now,” or “Thank you for listening.” Those messages kept me going.
Growth That Came from Trust, Not Noise
Within just 14 months of operations, Morbid reached around ₹1.5 Crore ARR. For me, this was not just a revenue number. It was proof that people value emotional support and real conversations.
Morbid grew quietly — not through hype, but through trust. Users came back because they felt heard. Listeners stayed because they felt they were helping.
What Morbid Stands for Today
Today, Morbid is still growing. The technology is improving, and the vision is getting clearer. But the heart of the app remains unchanged — real people listening to real emotions.
Morbid is not here to replace therapy or relationships. It exists for those moments when life feels heavy and you just need to talk. Even a few minutes of honest conversation can make a difference.
If you’re feeling stressed, lonely, or confused, you don’t have to carry it alone. Open Morbid, talk for a few minutes, and breathe a little easier.
The Road Ahead
As people become more aware of their mental and emotional health, the need for safe and honest spaces is growing. Morbid is built right where privacy, affordability, and trust meet. For Gen Z and millennials who may not be ready for therapy but still want someone to talk to, Morbid offers a simple and comfortable option. As these conversations become more normal, the value of platforms like Morbid will only increase.
Final Thoughts
Morbid shows that you don’t need a big team or huge funding to build something meaningful. What truly matters is empathy, consistency, and a genuine reason to exist. When a product is built with care and real intention, people can feel it — and they stay.
