Nature’s Makhana founder Nadeem Iqbal

Founded in 2024, Nature’s Makhana is a Bihar-based superfood brand that supplies premium varieties of makhana (fox nuts) to food brands across India.

The venture was started by Nadeem Iqbal, the son of Md. Raish, a Katihar-based makhana wholesaler with over three decades of experience in the trade.

While pursuing his BBA at Galgotias University, Nadeem led a project on makhana and discovered how the sector remained largely unorganised, with seller margins reduced by multiple middlemen.

During this period, he also received his first job offer after completing his BBA, with a salary of just ₹15,000 per month. That moment made him realise the true value of financial independence and fuelled his ambition to build something of his own. Today, with Nature’s Makhana, he earns around ₹6 lakh per month — a journey that reflects how hard work and consistency can completely transform one’s life.

Determined to bring structure and efficiency to the industry, he decided to build a structured, efficient, and digitised B2B makhana business under his father’s guidance.

In 2024, after completing his BBA, Nadeem launched Nature’s Makhana, investing ₹1 crore borrowed from his father’s business. He also enrolled in an MBA program at Jain University, Bengaluru.

Soon, he began collaborating with 50+ farmers from Katihar, creating a value chain that ensured fair sourcing and consistent quality.

To promote the brand, Nadeem started making simple Instagram reels six months ago, featuring makhana visuals, on-screen text, and music. He ran ads worth ₹500, and the first boosted reel brought in two orders totalling ₹3 lakh.

Encouraged by the success, he scaled this strategy—leading to a steady surge in orders from across the country.

Today, Nature’s Makhana specialises in B2B raw makhana trade, offering graded, unprocessed makhanas and white-labelling services for businesses that wish to sell under their own brand. The company’s minimum order quantity stands at 150 kilograms.

Between March and September 2025, the brand has been clocking an average monthly revenue of ₹3 crore, supplying to businesses across New Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and more.

“My father doesn’t show it, but I think he’s proud that our makhanas have found their place across India,” Nadeem smiles. “He still doesn’t know that most of our orders come from Instagram reels.”
